However, mods and maybe cc (custom content, but more optional than mods) are a must have if you are only going to play on basegame and do not want to get bored with it. However, you will never know what it is really ike to only use basegame, unless if you try. I never had any issues with downloading or purchasing any dlc for example when I got them exclusively from Steam instead of Origin or EA App. You could try to play The Sims 4 basegame only if you want, which I would recommend basegame and all dlc packs being used exclusively download and purchased on Steam (except basegame because obviously it is free) instead of Origin (which EA is trying to shut down by forcing people to EA App) or EA App. While Growing Together might be tempting to buy early I would not be the least bit surprised if some people are going to wait for a discount first before buying it. If the cost of Growing Together is not an issue I would recommend this expansion pack and especially for people who enjoy family gameplay/playing with child sims, but if the cost is an issue then get something cheaper such as a few bundles including Seasons, Get Together, and at least a few other packs as well if getting them in bundles. Also, some people are content with only just a few packs on The SIms 4 without needing to buy anymore. As for basegame I think that some people might enjoy basegame without any dlc and especially if you combine that with mods/cc, but I think that they represent less than 50% of all users that are exclusively using basegame only who might eventually think that basegame is overall boring on The Sims 4 even with mods/cc. I personally am thinking that Growing Together is possibly the best ever SIms 4 expansion pack in personal opinion where the only other expansion packs that even come close to this are Seasons and Get Together (although, they also come in bundles and frequently get 50% discounts), but it only recently came out meaning no bundles (which are actually cheaper for each pack than even 50% discounts and especially with expansion packs where it is confirmed that The Sims 4 now has currently 60 dlc packs total) or discount yet (which a 50% discount could be a year or longer away from right now for Growing Together).
